(Toledo, OH) Local Red Cross officials are renewing calls for volunteers as another massive hurricane threatens the U.S.
The Northwest Ohio Red Cross chapter is redirecting some of its newly-trained volunteers to Florida, as Hurricane Irma is expected to make landfall sometime this weekend. Local disaster response officials are talking with their counterparts in the Sunshine State to see what resources will be needed and can be pre-placed by the end of the week.
There are already several Toledo-area Red Cross disaster response specialists on the ground in Texas, helping survivors of Hurricane Harvey.
An orientation for new volunteers is scheduled Thursday, with one-on-one, fast-track training scheduled this weekend to get them immediately deployed.
