Bowsher High Considers Replacing "Rebel" Mascot

(Toledo, OH) Recent events are prompting a Toledo high school to look at changing its mascot.

The changing times and attitudes about Confederate symbols in America is leading to a discussion about Bowsher High School's mascot.

Toledo Public Schools officials say they're looking for ways to retain the "Rebels" nickname without using the horse-riding Confederate soldier logo.  The school is seeking input from alumni, students and staff about a new way to honor the nickname.

A top TPS administrator emphasizes no decisions have been made yet on the future of the Rebel mascot. Ideas can be emailed to the Bowsher High School principal.
