Scrap Processor to Build $35M Plant, Hire 100

(Delta, OH) Delta will soon see more than 100 jobs as a scrap processor starts operations in 2018.

An Indiana-based company plans to build a $35 million scrap processing plant directly across from North Star BlueScope Steel, to capitalize on the company’s supply relationship with the steel mill.

The plant would be built starting this fall on 60 acres of farmland at state route 109 and U.S. 20-A, which is also where NatureFresh Farms has a huge greenhouse operation to grow produce year-round.

Executives with Metal-X believe local permits and site plans will be approved in the next month or two. The plant will have the capacity to recycle more than half-a-million tons of scrap metal annually and plans to create more than 100 new jobs over the next three years.

The plant likely will be annexed into Delta. The company is seeking state and local loans and tax incentives.
