(Toledo, OH) Toledo's first medical marijuana growing facility gets local approval.
Lake Erie Compassion Care now has a special-use permit for a growing and cultivation operation on a 27-acre site in an industrial park along the Michigan border.
But the Cleveland-based company still needs a state license before it can begin operating, one of 185 applicants for just two dozen licenses to be awarded next month.
The Toledo plan commission gave the okay Thursday to a warehouse facility that company officials say will employ as many as sixty people with an annual payroll of up to $3 million. The facility has a capacity to produce up to $30 million worth of medical marijuana each year.
