(Toledo, OH)Toledo police are protecting the force against a new threat.
Toledo police recently replaced many of its aging cruisers with Ford Explorers-- but other departments across the country are having problems with carbon monoxide leaking into the SUV's.
So TPD's top brass will install carbon monoxide detectors on the force's fleet to protect officers. No problems have been found locally yet.
But five teams of Ford engineers are now criss-crossing the country trying to halt the problem. Ford engineers have found a possible cause with holes and uncovered spaces near taillights and real lift gates that can let the poisonous gas inside.
But the automaker says those problems were caused by aftermarket modifications like emergency lights being improperly installed.
