COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Auditor is pressuring charter schools to seek refunds of money they likely overpaid due to changes in state law.
State Auditor Dave Yost has sent letters to community schools. It indicates when a community school is overpaid, sometimes vendors also get overpaid because of a percentage-based funding formula.
"These are public schools. They have a public duty and we're going to insist that they follow that duty and get that money back for the kids," Yost says.
He says ECOT is one example of a school which is required by state regulations to do what it can to recover funding.
