(Toledo, OH) Toledo's plan commission is being asked to approve the city's first medical marijuana growing site.
State regulators have yet to approve applications and announce who will get two dozen licenses to grow medical marijuana. But developers already are asking the plan commission to approve a site plan to convert 27-and-a-half acres in the North Cross Industrial Park into a medicinal pot cultivation and processing facility.
The land sits along the Michigan border and Silver Creek in a remote corner of the industrial park, bordered by railroad tracks and other manufacturing facilities.
The developer is proposing a 60,000 square foot building and 23 acres to be used to grow marijuana. But approval later today would be a moot point if the company fails to secure a state license in September.
