(Antwerp, OH) A Paulding County rape suspect who was on the lam for four days is dead.
Sheriff's deputies say 32-year-old Branden Powell committed suicide last night during a standoff at his parents' Antwerp home. Powell had been hiding out since Friday, when he overpowered a deputy during transport from a mental hospital and escaped.
Meantime, the Paulding County Sheriff's Office is developing new safeguards to prevent another similar escape.
