Ohio Sales Tax Holiday Occurs This Weekend

(Toledo, OH) Ohio’s three day sales tax holiday for back-to-school shopping starts today. The state sales tax will be waived for clothing purchases of 75 dollars or less, along with school supplies and instructional materials that cost 20 dollars or less.

This is the third year state lawmakers have approved the sales tax holiday. The Ohio General Assembly already has approved legislation for another, similar sales tax holiday in 2018. The aim is to help Ohio parents with back-to-school shopping.

Studies show the sales tax holiday is particularly lucrative for retailers in Ohio’s border counties.
