Back-To-School Tax Holiday Starts Friday

COLUMBUS, Ohio - There are some cost savings on school supplies and some clothing items to be found at the store this weekend.

Clothing items up to 75 dollars each, and school supplies up to 20 dollars each. That's what's covered under the Ohio sales tax holiday, Friday, through Sunday. The first year of the sales tax holiday, two years ago, saved consumers about three point three million dollars. Alex Burnka with the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants says stores are expecting a better back-to-school season.

"We're expecting a boost this year. The National Retail Federation expects about a ten percent increase in sales compared to this time last year," Burnka says.

Another nearly identical sales tax holiday is set up for this time next year.
