Five State Fair Victims Remain Hospitalized

(Columbus, OH) Five people who were hurt when the Fire Ball ride at the state fair broke up are still in the hospital. Three of them were reported to be in critical condition.

18-year-old Tyler Jarrell of Columbus died after he was thrown from the ride into the air and hit the ground Wednesday evening. The fair's midway is closed until all rides are double-checked.

Governor Kasich is promising a thorough investigation of the deadly ride accident at the state fair. Speaking at the fairgrounds Thursday, the governor said the victims and families won’t be forgotten and that an investigation into the cause of the crash will be complete and thorough.

He also said the fair's midway will remain closed until all rides are inspected and re-inspected. The investigation is being done by the Ohio State Patrol and inspectors from the Ohio Department of Agriculture will go over the rides.
