(Rossford, OH) Rossford residents are challenging any new future taxes in that community.
There's a petition circulating in Rossford where residents would vote on any new tax increase before city officials can implement it. The petition would also cover any new fees or fee increases, as well as reducing tax credits.
Backers claim there's a loophole in the Rossford city code allowing city council to hike taxes without a public vote.
This latest challenge comes following a successful voter referendum last November that allowed the group to shut down an attempt to end tax reciprocity, where a so-called "commuter penalty" would have cost Rossford residents who worked in other communities part of an income tax break to fund road repairs. Rossford's mayor says residents should show greater trust in the people they elected.
