(Toledo, OH) Reconstruction of Bancroft Street begins today, with some detours expected.
The work will occur between Parkside Boulevard and Secor Road, affecting both the University of Toledo and St. Francis de Sales High School.
But what's missing from the project is a controversial roundabout that residents along Bancroft made clear they don't want. So the roundabout has been dropped from the project and no work will occur at the corner of Parkside and Bancroft in front of Ottawa Park as planned.
Instead, that intersection work is being shelved to a future construction project to ensure the current work won't overrun its budget. The road reconstruction is expected to last until November, with another section of Bancroft scheduled for a rebuild next spring and summer.
