(Detroit, MI) Expect to see a lot of "Buy American" promotion locally later this summer.
The United Auto Workers union will launch the "Buy American" campaign on Labor Day to teach people about what cars are actually made in this country.
The UAW's president says the idea started to develop in February due to President Trump's "America First" talk and more vehicles coming in from Mexico and China. The union has long advocated for buying cars and trucks made by its members in the U.S. and Canada, but UAW leaders say there is a "lot of interest" in the buy America theme.
Ironically, the Toledo-made Jeep Wrangler tops this year's survey of the most American-made vehicles, according to cars.com.
