Not in my neighborhood seems to be the battle cry of some South Toledo residents who protested Wednesday at the site of a proposed new Lucas County jail.
Lucas County Commissioners recently announced a 30-acre beanfield along Angola Road as the new location-- but neighbors say that's too close to the residential areas around Airport Highway and Byrne Road and they don't want to live in fear.
The group has started a Facebook page-- "Lucas County Citizens Against Angola Jail Proposal"-- and plans to make their case on social media.
County commissioners put a property tax proposal on the November ballot to pay for the new 650-bed lock-up.
