City Council Gets Answers For Found Money

(Toledo, OH) A former Ohio Supreme Court justice maintains there is no 'found' money in the Toledo city budget, despite the mayor's earlier claims there may be more than $8 million available.

City council's finance committee got answers Thursday from retired justice Andy Douglas, who was hired by the mayor as a fact-finder and  studied the budget to determine the funds never went where they were supposed to go. Douglas blamed a bad accounting practice that became the norm across several mayoral administrations between 1999 and last year.

Miscommunication caused by sweeping turnover in city leadership roles is to blame for the budget mess.
