Toledo Plan Commission to Regulate Medical Pot

(Toledo, OH) The Toledo Plan Commission will take the first steps toward regulating medical marijuana facilities in the Glass City later today.

Zoning regulations will be used to determine where medical pot growers and sellers can set up shop in Toledo. The plan commission staff has drafted proposed regulations ahead of an announcement expected from the state in September on who gets two dozen licenses for medical marijuana cultivators.

If approved, those rules will cover the type of zoning needed for all medicinal pot operations-- along with how far away from schools and churches, operating hours, and other factors. Growers would have to locate on industrial-zoned land, while sellers would have to build on commercially-zoned property.

A special-use permit would be required for all operations. Eight potential growers have listed Toledo sites when filing their state medical marijuana application.
