Implicated Pastor Asks For Pre-Trial Freedom

(Toledo, OH) A Toledo pastor charged with child sex trafficking is asking to go free while he awaits trial.

Attorneys for Cordell Jenkins made the plea Thursday for their client, who has been held without bond since April.  Jenkins was arrested April 7th on charges of paying for sex with two 17-year-old girls and also child pornography after prosecutors say he solicited photos and videos of the teens.

The U.S. District Court judge in the case says he'll make a decision on the motion soon.

Jenkins is the husband of Lucas County administrator Laura Lloyd-Jenkins, who sits on the county's Children Services Board. Federal prosecutors claim she confronted her husband about the crimes, but never told authorities-- even though her C-S-B board seat makes her a mandatory reporter by law.
