TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Mud Hens are celebrating a city icon this August.
On Saturday, August 26, the Mud Hens will host "You Will Do Better In Toledo" Night, featuring special jerseys based on the sign that once stood atop the Valentine Theater.
Mud Hens designer, Will Mellon, pulled inspiration for the team jersey from the original sign. The jersey has a classic black-and-white color scheme with the Toledo and player numbers replicating the sign’s typeface and light bulbs. The sleeves and on field cap sport the Mortimer logo and original slogan completing the vintage feel.
