Metroparks Takes Over Day-To-Day at TBG

(Toledo, OH) There's a takeover at the Toledo Botanical Garden.

The Toledo Area Metroparks will assume control of day-to-day operations at the garden in mid-July. The Metroparks has managed TBG since 2006 after the city approved a merger.

Officials say the new arrangement will allow for the garden to focus on its Toledo Grows community garden outreach program and other horticultural undertakings.

Some TBG staff will work for the Metroparks, but there will be layoffs, including TBG's executive director. Some Wildwood Metropark staff also will be used to maintain the West Toledo facility's many specialty gardens and buildings.
