Blue Creek Conservation Area to See Projects

(Whitehouse, OH) The Blue Creek conservation area is about to see a lot of development.

The Toledo-area Metroparks board is expected to approve a pair of contracts Wednesday to make the Blue Creek conservation area more attractive to visitors.

The first contract would lead to construction of a six-tenths of a mile paved perimeter trail for hiking and biking at a cost of $200,000, most of which is covered by a recreational trails grant.

A federal grant will cover the $450,000 cost of a second contract for woodlands restoration work along the banks of nearly two miles of streams through mid-May next year. A 500-acre wooded property next to Blue Creek recently purchased by the Metroparks also would see restoration work before construction of a future treehouse village.

That Metropark near Whitehouse already offers canoeing and rock-climbing.
