New Iron Ore Facility Coming to Toledo

(Toledo, OH) 130 new jobs are headed Toledo's way with an announcement this morning that a Cleveland company will build an iron manufacturing facility along the Maumee River.

Construction of the $700 million facility at East Toledo's Ironville Docks will take two years and involve 1,200 more construction jobs.

Cliff's Natural Resources is a $2 billion company and North America's biggest independent producer of iron ore pellets used in the production of iron and steel.

Local officials credit a creative engineering solution to reduce water use and an available multi-modal facility involving rail, highway and lake freighter infrastructure sealed the deal. The port authority built that infrastructure over the past decade using federal stimulus funds during the Obama administration.
