Rossford Leaders May Revive "Commuter Tax"

(Rossford, OH) Rossford city council is trying to again pass an income tax increase on people who work outside that community.

Rossford residents soundly rejected what critics call a "commuter penalty" last November during a voter referendum, forcing Rossford leaders to stop collecting the tax and refund what was already paid.

Rossford city council appears split on a revised version of the proposal, which would wipe out part of a tax credit given to Rossford residents who pay income taxes in another community.

The new tax would drop to 25 percent for three years to fund road projects, then jump to fifty percent-- the same level voters rejected. A council decision could come June 26th.
