(Toledo, OH) The next class of Toledo police recruits will begin training much earlier than expected. Police say the new academy class will start next month, instead of in December.
A rising number of retirements is making it necessary to have the new officers on the streets by January. Forty recruits make up the upcoming police academy class.
A group of 25 police cadets just graduated two weeks ago and are headed to the streets for four months of field training with a veteran officer. Toledo police responded to about 215,000 calls for service to 911 last year.
