Ohio Sues Opioid Drug Makers

(Columbus, OH) The state attorney general is sending a message to drug companies concerning the opioid crisis.

The state of Ohio is taking five drug makers to court, accusing them of helping cause the state's opioid epidemic.

Attorney General Mike DeWine filed the lawsuit Wednesday against Purdue Pharma, Endo Health Solutions, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Cephalon Pharmaceuticals and Allergan Pharmaceuticals.  The suit accuses the companies of placing profits above Ohioans' health by understating the risks of addiction to painkilling drugs.

The head of the Ohio Democratic Party contends the lawsuit is just election-year politics, as DeWine seeks to run for governor. David Pepper claims the opioid epidemic has simply gotten worse every year DeWine has been in office.
