More Roundabouts on The Way in Lucas County

(Monclova Twp., OH) More roundabouts are on the way in Lucas County, but are considered as  economic development projects.

The Toledo-Lucas County port authority wants to install a pair roundabouts on State Route 20-A and build a connector road leading into land on the south side of the airport, anticipating future development from Tronair's takeover of an airport hub building that used to be used for package shipping.

The economic development agency anticipates Tronair to be an anchor for other industry to locate at Express Industrial Park, creating a need for improved access and safety along Maumee-Western Road.

$1.5 million in state grants will cover at least part of the cost, estimated at $3.7 million. Design work has already been done in conjunction with ODOT.

There's also been talk over the years about a 20-A interchange along I-475 for better traffic flow and to encourage airport development.
