State Rep Theresa Gavarone Endorses Jon Husted For Governor

COLUMBUS, Ohio - In a letter released Thursday, State Representative Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green) became the first state lawmaker to endorse current Secretary of State Jon Husted for governor.

Calling Husted a man who always delivers on his promises, Gavarone emphasized Husted's fiscal conservatism as a main reason she's supporting him.

"There are many politicians who campaign as fiscal conservatives, but after being elected, they fail to cut bureaucracy or reduce spending – not Jon Husted," Gavarone writes.

"As Speaker of the House, Jon led the passage of the most fiscally-conservative budget in over 40 years and delivered the largest tax cut in Ohio’s history. As Secretary of State, Jon cut spending in his office by 17% - saving the state $14.5 million, and most recently, announced he would run his office for the rest of his term without using any taxpayer dollars at all."

Husted is running for the 2018 Republican gubernatorial nomination against current lieutenant governor Mary Taylor, current attorney general and former U.S. Senator Mike DeWine and Congressman Jim Renacci.

Gavarone will host a meet-and-greet for Secretary Husted in Bowling Green on Monday, May 22 where she plans to officially endorse the Secretary of State.
