(Toledo, OH) The search continues for a Republican to sit on the Lucas County Board of Elections.
Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted rejected the GOP's nomination of 75-year old Ernest McCarthy to the elections board Tuesday, citing his ties to past problems on the panel. McCarthy has served as a poll worker and seasonal employee at the elections board in the past-- and was a failed candidate for Toledo city council and the Ohio Senate.
Husted has recommended the appointment of Toledo attorney Bill Jennings or former state Representative David Karmol to fill the open seat.
Now it could be mid-June before the board of elections is back to full strength.
