Tourism Efforts To Get Boost

(Toledo, OH) Efforts are underway to attract more tourism dollars to Toledo.

Destination Toledo officials marked National Tourism Week Wednesday by setting goals to get a bigger piece of the $43 billion spent each year by visitors to Ohio. The group will focus on promoting Maumee Bay as a recreation spot and continue work on hosting national sporting events and trade shows.

Meantime, Ohio's tourism industry continues to grow. State officials say 212 million tourism visits were recorded last year, a five million visit increase from 2015. Much of the tourism spending comes from overnight visitors.
