TOLEDO, Ohio - The man accused of setting a fire that killed two Toledo firefighters will spend the next 20 years in jail.
Ray Abou Arab was sentenced Thursday morning after entering a plea deal. WTOL 11 reports Abou Arab entered an Alford plea to two counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of aggravated arson. Judge Stacy Cook then sentenced him to twenty years without possibility of parole.
A mistrial had been declared earlier in the morning. The declaration came after testimony was stopped the day before. A police detective has said in his testimony that Abou Arab had failed a polygraph test, which is not generally admissible in court.
