(Perrysburg, OH) The fair and festival season has a new addition-- the first-ever Walleye Fest.
Perrysburg and Maumee will host events on both sides of the Maumee River, including a fishing tournament that's been going on all week.
A “walleye splash” will open the festivities at 6 p.m. at Hood Park in Perrysburg, where a six-foot fish replica will be dropped into the Maumee River. There will be carnival games, a fish fry and a family movie tonight, too. There's a food truck festival this evening in Maumee.
Saturday's schedule includes a pancake breakfast, 5-K run, and a parade in Perrysburg. Sunday features a tug-of-war between Perrysburg and Maumee officials.
There's an unplanned addition to Walleye-fest-- playoff hockey. The Toledo Walleye will host the Fort Wayne Komets tonight in game one of the ECHL Eastern Conference semifinals.
