(Toledo, OH) There are big plans in store for the Marina District.
The Toledo Blade reports ProMedica is re-enlisting the help of a Columbus developer to spark retail and housing activity in the Marina District, which will still have a separate riverfront metropark.
The developer is promoting a plan for 370 apartment units and restaurant in the Marina District-- mainly aimed at millenials and empty-nesters.
Columbus developer Frank Kass was involved in the inital plans to redevelop the Marina District under then-mayor Carty Finkbeiner. This latest proposal is the fifth plan to redevelop the land in East Toledo.
The Maumee River Metropark may be as large as 70 acres, built in phases using grant and levy money to install wetlands, prairies, and forest land, river access for small boats, hiking and biking paths, and a river overlook. The proposal also calls for Toledo city leaders to turn over International Park to the Metroparks.
