TOLEDO, Ohio - Toledo attorney Kurt Young was appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Toledo City Council.
Young was one of eleven men who submitted applications for the open seat. All eleven were given a chance Tuesday afternoon to pitch themselves to City Council. Young was nominated for the seat by Councilwoman Lindsay Webb and received six votes with four other candidates receiving one vote each.
Young is also running in November for one of the six at-large council seats, and was endorsed by the Lucas County Democratic Party.
The seat was vacated earlier this month when Theresa Gabriel stepped down to become the deputy director of the Lucas County Board of Elections.
