Van Wert Schools to Host Education Secretary

(Van Wert, OH) A small Northwest Ohio town will be at the center of the national public education debate Thursday. 

President Trump's controversial new education secretary Betsy DeVos and the president of the American Federation of Teachers both will visit visit Van Wert City Schools. This will be the first joint appearance by the pair, who represent opposing ends of the current state of public education. 

The pair will tour classrooms, meet with teachers and students, and participate in roundtable discussions with kindergarten and preschool teachers followed by one with special education instructors. After a tour of a fifth grade classroom and engineering-robotics projects, the education secretary and AFT president will appear at a press conference together in the rural community of 10,000 people.
