(Perrysburg, OH) The financial troubles appear to be over at Owens Community College.
The Owens board of trustees learned Tuesday the school has been released from "fiscal watch" status a year ahead of schedule after budget cuts and conservative spending. The community college dropped several sports and laid off dozens of workers.
One of the last pieces of Owens' financial puzzle is dropping enrollment, something the college is working to reverse through marketing, academics and support services. The fiscal watch status started about two years ago.
Owens will also lose its president at the end of his current contract June 30th.
