COLUMBUS, Ohio - A car breakdown costing $500 would be catastrophic for a growing number of people in Ohio.
New numbers from Triple-A indicate about one in five people would have serious problems taking on a $500 repair bill. Triple-A Ohio's Kimberly Schwind says there's more to be found in the research.
"We also are finding that a lot of people are delaying or skipping maintenance. In fact, a previous Triple-A study found that about one-third of Americans are putting off recommended vehicle maintenance," Schwind says.
Schwind points out delaying routine maintenance causes problems later on.
