Lucas Co. Elections Board Shuffles Leadership

(Toledo, OH) The Lucas County board of elections is shuffling its leadership.

Deputy elections director Lavera Scott is now its director and the former Republican director is gone.

The elections board appointed a Toledo city council member, 80-year old Theresa Gabriel, as its new deputy director during a meeting Thursday.

The city council member will resign her at-large seat to take the job. Gabriel ran as an independent four years ago, but voted Republican in the presidential primary, making her a member of the GOP.

The vote was 3 to 0,, because a GOP elections board member has been suspended by Ohio's secretary of state during an investigation into possible backroom deals and meddling in cahoots with Lucas County Republican party leaders.
