UT Students Try to Save Iconic Eatery

(Toledo, OH) University of Toledo students are launching a social media campaign to save an iconic eatery.

The Phoenicia  restaurant in the UT student union is being forced to close at the end of the week after the university signed an exclusive agreement with another food provider. The restaurant has provided food options to students for the past 27 years-- and student government is getting involved by encouraging the student body to patronize the restaurant in its final two days of operations.

In a Facebook post, UT student leaders claim the restaurant is being forced out due to "competitive financial interests." Student government is launching a Twitter campaign with #savephoenicia and wants students to tag UT's president with the hope of saving the iconic eatery and "preserve unique food choices on campus."
