Ohio BMV Fees Could Rise

(Columbus, OH) You may soon be paying more in fees at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

County commissioners would be allowed to hike the vehicle license fee by five dollars to pay for road work under a compromise transportation budget reached by a conference committee at the Ohio Statehouse.

Drivers also are likely to pay more in deputy registrar fees. The state BMV has recommended an increase from $3.50 to $5.25, saying the fee has not gone up since 2004.

Votes are expected in the Ohio House and Senate on Wednesday.
