(Jerusalem Twp., OH) A Northwest Ohio schoolteacher is among three killed in a weekend crash.
Students and staff in the Benton-Carroll-Salem school district are mourning the loss of 33-year old teacher Whitney Meinke after a fatal car crash early Sunday morning.
Meinke taught at RC Waters elementary school in Oak Harbor. It's the second time in a week three people are killed in a crash in Jerusalem Township. She leaves behind a husband and two children.
The State Highway Patrol says a van slammed into a car early Sunday after running a stop sign at Cousino and Seaman roads. All three people in the car were killed-- including Meinke, Robin Shellhammer, and Barbara Shellhammer.
Charges are pending against the driver of the van and alcohol is suspected as a cause.
