Final Kroger Rezoning Vote Likely Later Today

(Toledo, OH) Toledo City Council may have the deciding vote later today on a controversial new Kroger store near Monroe and Secor.

There's a vote scheduled this afternoon on a rezoning request by Kroger to build a new superstore on land being sold by the Sisters of Notre Dame.

Officials with the supermarket chain have pledged $500,000 worth of intersection improvements, a new sidewalk, physical separation from the Notre Dame high school campus, and preservation of greenspace to answer the claims of critics.

The city plan commission voted against the revised proposal, while a city council committee sent the plans forward without a recommendation last week.
