(Toledo, OH) Toledo City Council is expected to vote next week on Kroger's plans for a new store on the Sisters of Notre Dame property.
A city council committee moved the proposed supermarket for a vote Wednesday without recommending approval or rejection. Kroger wants the property along Secor Road rezoned for the store, but people living near the site have expressed concerns about traffic, green space and the safety of kids walking to school.
The committee heard three hours of testimony, which included commitments Kroger has made to waylay the concerns of opponents. Kroger plans to spend $500,000 on intersection improvements, along with new sidewalks, and access amenities for the Notre Dame High School campus.
