(Toledo, OH) Toledo's mayor receives an early endorsement for re-election.
Incumbent mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson has received the blessing of the Lucas County Democratic party, despite potential opposition from another Democrat-- Lucas County's treasurer, who's still mulling a possible run.
This is the first endorsement for mayor issued by the party's executive committee since 2001-- but the effort is to avoid another vote split that cost Democrats any candidate surviving the city's September primary in 2013. In that race, two independent candidates emerged as the last pair standing for the November general election.
Democratic leaders also endorsed a full slate of Toledo city council candidates seeking at-large seats, including two incumbents.
