(Toledo, OH) Toledo police are preparing to roll out a new crime-fighting initiative.
"Operation STOP" will be unveiled today in a news conference. STOP stands for Strategic Tactical Operational Policing, an intelligence-based approach to identifying violent crime trends, suspects and hot spots.
The data-driven policing intitiative will deploy the gang unit and SWAT team to saturate neighborhoods prone to gun violence and door-to-door canvassing to inform residents of the heavier police presence.
The program also calls on residents to be the eyes and ears of officers in their neighborhoods.
