No Death Penalty in Fatal Fire Trial

(Toledo, OH) The man accused of setting a fire that killed two Toledo firefighters won't face the death penalty.

Lucas County prosecutors dropped the death penalty specification against Ray Abou-Arab Thursday, opting instead for charges that carry a life prison sentence. That January 2015 fire killed firefighters Jamie Dickman and Stephen Machinski.

Jury selection for Abou-Arab's trial is scheduled to begin Monday.
