(Toledo, OH) A downtown building could be designated a historic landmark as its converted to loft-style apartments.
The Toledo plan commission will be asked next week to designate the Commerce Paper Company Building on Ontario Street as a local landmark that also should be placed on the National Register of Historic Places for its architectural significance. That would allow the developer to qualify for state and federal historic tax credits as part of the financing package to convert the former warehouse into a 75-unit apartment building.
The Commerce Paper Company Building is over 100 years old and would be just the second downtown building designated as a local historic site in the past five years, joining the Fiberglass Tower and Levis Square.
