(Toledo, OH) Toledo City Council is being asked to move up the start of the next class of police recruits.
Amendments to the city's budget call for the new class to start in June or July instead of December. Supporters say the money is available now to get recruits ready to fill an expected onslaught of retirement-related openings. City council member Lindsay Webb wants to use $1.25 million left over from the city's 2016 budget.
A vote on the proposal could happen as early as next week.
