Port Authority May Help Fund Pro Football HOF

(Toledo, OH) The Toledo-Lucas County port authority is being asked to help finance the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village.

The port authority would issue $4 million  worth of bonds through its Northwest Ohio bond fund at the request of the Stark County port authority and a nonprofit foundation that runs the pro football hall of fame in Canton.

A developer wants to build a $600 million so-called "smart city" that would include a football-themed hotel and conference center, retail and restaurants, a coaches university, a performance center that could host football and basketball games, along with Legends Landing, a football themed senior care center for retired NFL players and others.

The tax-exempt bonds would yield fees for the port authority, which has helped to fund other projects in Ohio in the past.
