UT Student-Athlete Files Lawsuit Over Burns

(Toledo, OH) A University of Toledo student-athlete who suffered serious burns at a party is seeking financial justice.

Janelle Noe and her parents are suing several people for allowing underage drinking at an off-campus party last year.

The defendants include Christopher Housel, who was convicted of causing her burns and the store that sold booze to underage buyers. The UT cross-country runner suffered burns over 70 percent of her body.

Housel pleaded guilty last September to reduced misdemeanor charges and was sentenced to four months at CCNO and ordered to perform 800 hours of community service, half of that in a hospital burn unit.

A civil trial date has not yet been set.
