Flu Outbreak Hits NW Ohio School Districts

(Metamora, OH) The holiday weekend won't come soon enough for Northwest Ohio school districts dealing with a flu outbreak.

The Evergreen school superintendent, for example, posted a letter on its website urging parents to keep their kids home if they experienced flu symptoms-- and emphasized the "three C's" to slow the spread of flu-- clean, cover, and contain.

According to state health officials, many school districts had to close for the rest of the week due to the overwhelmingly large number of teachers and students sick with the flu. That gave some school districts a chance to disinfect entire buildings.

In Evergreen's case, students get a four-day weekend to recover, with a teacher in-service day and the President's Day holiday.
